DRDO Achieves Milestone with Successful Flight Tests of Integrated Air Defence Weapon System
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has proudly announced the successful flight tests of its Integrated Air Defence Weapon System (IADWS) off the coast of Odisha. This remarkable achievement highlights a major breakthrough in India’s indigenous defense capabilities, reaffirming the nation's commitment to strengthening its military defenses.
The Integrated Air Defence Weapon System is a sophisticated multi-layered defense mechanism, integrating various advanced missile technologies and laser systems. It includes the Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile (QRSAM) and Very Short Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS) missiles, along with a powerful Directed Energy Weapon (DEW). These components collectively enhance the effectiveness of India's defense against aerial threats.
During the tests, the IADWS successfully engaged and neutralized three aerial targets, demonstrating its capability to provide a robust air defense shield. This performance underscores India's growing proficiency in technology, which places it at the forefront of defense innovation.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed his congratulations to the DRDO, the Indian Armed Forces, and the industry partners involved in this pivotal development. The success of these tests not only boosts the strategic defense posture of the country but also emphasizes the importance of indigenous solutions in maintaining national security.
The successful conduct of the flight tests signifies progress in developing integrated defense systems that can effectively counter diverse aerial threats. As India moves forward, it continues to enhance its military capabilities to ensure the safety and sovereignty of the nation.
