
Assam Rifles Truck Ambushed Near Imphal Airport
In a deadly attack near Imphal Airport in Manipur, an Assam Rifles truck was ambushed by unidentified militants in the Nambol Sabal Leikai area of Bishnupur district, just eight kilometers from the airport. The incident occurred around 5:40 PM when the convoy was moving from the Patsoi company base toward the Nambol base.
Two Assam Rifles personnel, Naib Subedar Shyam Gurung and Rifleman Ranjit Singh Kashyap, were killed in the attack. Five other soldiers were injured and were immediately rushed to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Imphal, where they are currently undergoing treatment. According to reports, their condition is stable.
Following the ambush, security forces quickly launched a massive search and combing operation to track down the attackers. However, no group has claimed responsibility for the strike so far. The attack has raised concerns about the continuing security challenges in the region, which has witnessed recurring violence in recent months.
Officials, including the Governor of Manipur, have condemned the attack and expressed condolences to the families of the deceased soldiers.
